Many cosmetic products on the market contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) which is an additive allowing products to foam. It has been linked to skin irritation, skin toxicity and endocrine toxicity (hormonal).
Utilised in cosmetics and skincare to prolong the life of products, parabens are a collection of synthetic compounds which can enter the skin and disrupt various functions including hormonal function.
Apricot Kernel Oil
Apricot is an excellent moisturiser and carrier base. The high content of Oleic acid gives Apricot greater affinity with the skin compared to other oils meaning it is more easily absorbed.
Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet Almond is especially suited to dry, sensitive and irritated skin. It is softening, revitilising and nourishing to the skin.
Calendula oil is renowned for its calming and soothing properties on the skin and helps to fight excess oil.
Coconut helps the skin naturally control its oil secretions and most importantly application of coconut on the skin after washing with soap/shower gel helps the skin quickly and naturally restore its pH level to 5.5 without blocking pores. Using coconut in skin care products or directly on the skin is a wonderfully natural way to sustain beautiful skin.
Arnica oil is energising, powerful, a curative, resistant and protecting to the skin. Arnica is antiseptic, stimulates hair growth, anti-inflammatory, wound-healing.
Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp seed oil is the highest oil in essential fatty acids: 75-80% total EFAs. It is amazingly rich in Omega 3 oils with the benefits related to them. PUFAs increase the moisture retention of our skin, keeping it soft and supple and our hair healthy and strong. Trapping this moisture strengthens our skin – enhancing our natural defenses against pollution, sun, dry air and excessive use of soaps, gels and other detergents. The essential fatty acids contained in hemp seed oil have been clinically proven to alleviate or remedy dry skin, minor skin abrasions, acne, eczema and psoriasis.
Sunflower Seed Oil
An oil high in Oleic acids with high amounts of Vitamins A, D, and E.
Jojoba is chemically very similar to human sebum. The oil makes for excellent skincare products which moisturise, nourish and protect. Jojoba also has a natural SPF of 5 which further enhances it’s skin caring benefits.
Classic Shea butter has an excellent ability to penetrate the skin without clogging pores, allowing the skin to breathe. Emollient, Moisturising, Rejuvenating, Regenerative.
Argan Butter can be used directly on the skin, with an instant feeling of suppleness,
softness and moisturisation.
Sweet Orange Oil
Circulation boosting, and good for detoxifying the skin.
Relaxing, relieving for anxiety, depression, heart calming, useful for convalescing,
healing scars and stretch marks.
Tissue regenerating, acne, sores, ulcers, rough and cracked skin.
Most of the properties of lavender revolve around the balancing and normalising of body functions and emotions. Lavender can be used to great effect in massage and bath oils for muscular aches and pains. Traditionally lavender has been used to aid a good night’s sleep. Lavender helps relieve the itch which is associated with bites and applying neat oil to the bites also helps relieve the stinging sensation. Lavender will help soothe and heal burns, but always remember for serious burns to consult a doctor. Lavender isn’t a replacement for medical treatment in the case of a severe burn.
Ylang Ylang is both euphoric and a sedative, helping with tension, shock, feeling down, emotionally drained. Traditionally used as an aphrodisiac.
